Cracks
Cracks is set at a boarding school for cute girls where they have a lesbian teacher that fancies one of the girls, I think, its been a while since I watched it. And the other girls get annoyed because a new girl arrives that gets all the teachers attension.
Then when the teacher tries to flurt with the new girl and is rejected she gets angry and after a sort of confrontation the girls beat the new girl up. Shes a bit odd and needs an inhaler and is struggling to breath and the lesbo teacher comes over to help but she keeps the inhaler out of the new girls reach and so she dies. She does that presumably because she has been spurned and doesnt want anyone to find out.
Its an interesting film because theres loads of cute girls running around and jumping into lakes in their swim suits and stuff.
The lesbian teacher aspect is interesting because the teacher is otherwise a strong character and so there are really two plots going on here at the same time, the teachers world and the girls world.
I mean, the objectives of the teacher are peculiar and to some expent its not very believable, but as an extended analogy its perhaps interesting.
I think the interesting thing about this film is the setting and ambeince of the location. For me its a an adventure into a strange world of adolesent innocence. I think this is summed up by the scene where they are all lounging about in the sun on some steps. It just strikes me that its a scenario only afforded by the control of a particular environment. What I mean is that they are just lounging about. Sure they could do that anywhere, but do that where I live and you'll soon find some trouble around the corner, boys on bikes, people in cars blaring music. Its a place where the walls keep out the riff raff and they have a chance to enjoy their youth in peace. Not that thats part of the plot. But the idea of a place where girls are brought up focussing on their swimming, diving and gymnastics etc is intriging. Seeing them sat there im thinking that thats the memory they'll have. The memories I have are all heavily polluted by my urban upbringing.

For me, its just an exploration of a world like that. So really, it is just a bit melodramatic for my liking as i cant believe that girls would be as mean as they were or that teachers would behave so strangely
Either way its a great movie.
